What inspired me to create this art piece was the entering of teenage years. It incorporates the way I had felt when I entered my early teens and it shows how I am now having to guide my sister now that she has begun the "awakening" as well. I began by adding a water color base to 3 of the koi fish and the girl. Then, added color pencil to add detail and to blend out the colors. When using color pencils, I colored in the direction of the movement. Next, I molded the top koi fish with paper clay and then waited for them to dry for two days. Furthermore, I colored them using water colors and then glued them onto the piece. Lastly, I covered the artwork in a thin layer of tinted resin.
