West Texas Plein Air Painting Excursion 2021 Painting #1. From the highway last October, I spied these grain elevators and began planning to return and paint them. The January Texas panhandle weather nearly kicked me with cold 30 - 40 mph winds. One day, while I was attempting to mount my painting, it flew off and tumbled away in the grass. The wind became so oppressive I had to stop working on it. Because of the delay, I had to stay an extra day to complete it. Yes, plein air painting is enjoyable even in the January windy cold.
