I was inspired to paint my great grandmother mae (pronounced ma-i), which is the Portuguese word for mother because she has always been there for me ever since I was born, she has been like a mother figure to me and inspired me to keep on moving on and painting, without her support I would not be able to achieve what I am doing today she is the motivation and light for my love of art. I used oil and acrylic to produce my artwork, oil was used to capture the attention of her hair and skin, for the fabric I used oil to show the folds on her sari which is an item of Indian traditional clothing, on the background I used acrylic the background was a mustardy/ sandy color to really bring out the color of her skin and garments.
